About Theatre

The Wiener Musikverein, or the Viennese Music Association, is a world-famous concert hall in Vienna, Austria, which opened on January 6, 1870. Emperor Franz Joseph gave a piece of land on which the concert hall was built by the Gesellschaft der Musikfreunde Wien. This building stands on Dumbastraße, between Bösendorferstraße and Karlsplatz, just behind the Imperial Hotel. The Große Musikvereinssaal, or the Golden Hall of the venue, its most important attraction, seats around 1,744 people, with standing room for 300. It is home to the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra.

About Theatre

Mozarthouse’s ‘Sala Terrena’ is known for its wonderful acoustics and its historical status as the oldest concert hall in Vienna. Mozart himself used to play and work here for Bishop Colloredo in 1781. Painted and designed in the late Renaissance Venetian style under the patronage of the Land Commander Carl Borromäus Count Colloredo Waldsee, Sala Terra is situated on the ground floor of Mozarthouse and is full of Baroque-style paintings of flowers and animals. Currently, it is used by the Teutonic Order, as well as for musical performances and other purposes of representation.
